. a supersoaker. let's get right to it. more than ten inches of rain has already fallen at clear creek, california. st. helena, california, just over nine inches. so, how much more will we get? it's going to be on the order of 20 inches of storm total rainfall. on top of it, you have video like this coming in. this from parts of california in the san francisco bay area. wind gusts up to 54 miles per hour in the city. and outside, some of the higher terrain had 88-mile-per-hour gusts. and we go to nevada because it is not just california. they are sandbagging, preparing for more rain. the truckee river will likely crest and flood by tomorrow. some of the heaviest flooding they've seen in more than a decade. finally, it's not just northern california and the pacific northwest. it's southern california that feels the high surf. so, some surfers probably very happy. but could be dangerous. but it's something to note if you're planning to go to the beach in southern california. let's look at what we expect for more rainfall coming up. tonight into early tomorrow, that's when the next bulk of it hits. y

're going to turn, now, to a dramatic survival story. a woman stranded in the california mountains, after a sudden snowstorm, for almost a week. professional rescuers couldn't find her. but her brother refused to give up and found her just in time. abc's david wright has the details. >> reporter: she was missing for nearly a week. this morning, 46-year-old paula lane is lucky to be alive. >> we're very happy that she made it. it's been a rough haul, waiting all those days, trying to know if she made it or not. >> reporter: lane was driving home with her boyfriend, roderick clifton, when their jeep got stuck in the snow in the sierra nevada mountains, on a road so remote, there's no cell phone service. clifton went searching for help. leaving lane to fend for herself. >> they had gotten some tomatoes. so she sustained herself on tomatoes. >> reporter: tomatoes and snow, her only sustenance for a week. police launched massive manhunt across two states. at times, the weather was so bad, they were unable to send in planes and helicopters. paula lane's older sister had all but given up hope an

by a snowstorm marching all of the way from california. triggering these explosions. the midtown area of mobile fully blacked out. lit only by the lights of police cruisers. here in mobile, thousands still blacked out with power. across the region, over 250,000 people without power. >> we've had some moderate to minor injuries. to this point, there's been no deaths reported. judging from some of the damage we witnessed today, it's a miracle. >> reporter: dazed residents picked through the debris, as rescuers checked for people still trapped in the rubble. the winds mangling the antebellum homes here. picking up cars and ripping through a nearly 100-year-old high school here in mobile. and it's not over yet, sam. there is still a high wind warning is in effect. we talked about the breadth of the damage coming through last night. to get these power lines out of the way, of course, first restoring power to that hospital that got knocked out and all of this weather is punching through georgia and carolinas and heading your way, sam. >> that's right, matt. when i saw the pictures coming out. we thou

think so. >> this delivers snow. show you how it started. the pictures out of the california sierras. almost six feet of snow since fri friday. the flooding pictures as well. sonoma county. san francisco, five inches of rain in the month of december. more than twice they would normally see. this is a wet and rainy time of the year often. but this is a little bit unusual. here's where the system drags in the tough severe weather over the next couple of days. from houston to dallas. know that tomorrow, this spreads in. we're a little concerned there might be a tornado outbreak in the heavy red shaded area. 30 tornadoes since we have been keeping records in the 1950s have broken out in that christmas daytime period. we may see the christmas storms as well. this is where the snow will roll here. 5 to 10 inches of snow. actual la, little rock, i don't remember when little rock had christmas day snow. 1926 was the last time. now you have seen the boards. this is likely to be a travel trouble. alex perez is standing by in chicago o'hare. >> reporter: the first big wave of holiday travellers

at how much we have already had. over a foot of rain in some northern california areas, brandy creek, whispering pines. even parts of oregon 8.77 inches already. we're about to get more. look at the video they were preparing in napa. you can see that the russian river is forecast to crest today. flooding is the first issue. then, winds. reno, nevada, big problems on the roadway. high-profile vehicles traveling get a 70 miles per hour gust, it guz done. some of the mountain passes in the sierras could easily see 100-plus mile-per-hour winds today. the first threat is rain, we're talking about flooding. how much more rain? anywhere from 4 to 8 inches. you can see right here in the red area, reno is involved. redding is in the purple. and this, even though same colors used here, the wind gusts, look at how south, it goes to los angeles, great falls, montana. lot of places not only just talking about that but the snow. and the snow, the snow levels have come down, starting to see a little bit more of that freezing. sun valley, jackson hole and mount baker, all going to get in that foot a

, california. they had almost a half inch, san francisco, almost an inch, not good on the roadways there and talk about bad roads, look at the next part here in the sierras. by the time this thing is done with them, five to even six feet of snow, so great for skiers, horrible as it's turned into a parking lot on some of their highways. that's is second storm. it has started. it'll cross over and here's where it gets interesting. earlier i said to dan and bianna, i said, geez, oh, pete. looking at some of the computer models. i got it a good old midwestern -- eastern oklahoma, some are over a foot of snow on christmas eve and christmas day. then you look into, and that's mostly christmas day, but watch this. as it moves, wednesday, ice up in the new england rain here and northeast. it finally exits thursday into friday. but that's when all the people are traveling. so we will keep an eye on it and more on the nation's weather coming up. >> ginger, i know you're excited about the weather when you say geez, oh, pete. i had to look it up online. it translates roughly into wow. >> that'

to start off with a very shocking story. it's out of california. a young california actress police are calling an accessory to murder. rachel buffet pleaded not guilty she lied to police in 2010. her former fiance, currently awaiting trial for those crimes. and now, buffet is speaking out for the first time about her arrest. abbie boudreau has the story. >> i'm innocent. >> reporter: rachel buffet maintains she was duped by her ex-fiance, dan wozniak. >> it was, like, the person i loved never really existed. >> reporter: but they claim she not only knows the real dan wozniak, is charged with killing two friends, but that she was an accessory, covering up the crime. as he sits in jail on murder charges, she's out on bail. >> it's hard to eat when your stomach is in knots. >> reporter: it all started in the spring of 2010. buffet and wozniak, but community theater actors, were starring in the play, "nine." but police say, on the same day the couple performs in a play, wozniak lured his neighbor, 26-year-old college student, sam herr, who recently returned from a tour in afghanistan,
